August 27, 1916 --- July 4, 2005

Clarence Albert Steffa, 88, a resident of St. David, Ariz., died July 4, 2005, at Benson Hospital in Benson, Ariz. He lived in the area 26 years. He previously resided in Humboldt, Iowa, where he was born Aug. 27, 1916. His parents were John Milton Steffa and Lizzie Matilda Meyer. Clarence served in the U.S. Army and also worked in the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps). He built foundations in the construction industry. He was a member of First Baptist Church of St. David. He was also member of the Lion's Club and a 60-year member of the American Legion.

Visitation was at 10:30 a.m. and services were held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, July 9, at Richardson's Remembrance Center, Benson, with Pastor Don Churchfield officiating. Interment of cremains will be at a later date in the family plot in Iowa.

Survivors include children: Don Steffa, New Bern, N.C., Ray (Kathy) Steffa, Salida, Colo., Jan Santigati and family, St. David, Lois Steffa, St. David, Sharon (David Vestweber, Clear Lake, Iowa, Gary (Tamy) Steffa, Peoria, Ariz.; brother, Oliver (Dorothy) Steffa, Pittsfield, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, wife of 64 years, Jeanette [Davids], and four sisters. Arrangements were under the direction of Richardson's Remembrance Center in Benson.
