LOLA M. ODLAND
Lola M. Rasmussen was born October 25, 1904, in Goldfield, Iowa, to Chris and Rosa Helmer Rasmussen. She received her formal education in Goldfield and graduated on May 31, 1922 from Goldfield High School. She attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, and received her teaching certificate. She then taught for 2 years in country schools around the Goldfield area. On March 4, 1925 she was united in marriage to Clarence Harvey Odland at her parents' home in Goldfield. After their marriage they moved to Minnesota and farmed for 5 years and then moved to Clarion and continued farming for 6 years. In 1936 they moved to Dows and farmed and in 1972 moved into Dows and retired. Her husband, Clarence, died April 30, 1981. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, ELCW, various church circles, was a Bible study leader, a charter member of the Friendly Club and played the piano for the Dows Senior Citizens.

Lola M. Odland died on Tuesday, November 7, 1995, at the age of 91, at the Dows Health Care Center where she had resided since November 11, 1994. Survivors include one daughter Donna and husband Dennis Underwood of Shoreview, Minnesota; 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and l sister. Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 11, 1995, at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Dows, Iowa, with Reverend Glenn Kappelmann officiating. Burial was in Otis Grove Cemetery, Dows. The Elledge Funeral Home of Dows was in charge of arrangements.
