VIRGINIA McCARTY RUTLEDGE
Virginia Aileen McCarty was born March 15,1919 at Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Wm Isaac and Charlotte Stringer McCarty. She attended school at Otho, Iowa and graduated from high school at Otho. On March 17,1939, she was united in marriage to Joseph Rutledge of Fort Dodge at Corpus Christi Church. She kept her home in Fort Dodge while he was in service during World War II. After his return from service, they moved to Calgary, Canada, where they lived for one year, returning to Templeton, Iowa, where he was an insurance agent. They moved to Goldfield in 1946, and were living there at the time of his death in 1963. Virginia was employed at the Rotary Ann Home for the past seven years as a cook and dietary person. She became ill at her home Friday night, December 5, 1986, and died before she could be taken to the hospital. She was 67 years, eight months and 21 days old at the time of her death. Virginia was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Eagle Grove. She is survived by one son, William Rutledge, Eagle Grove; two daughters, Mary Irelan, Cottonwood, Ariz., and Christy Jean (Mrs. L. M.) Hurley, Ceres, Calif.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Dale. Funeral services for Virginia McCarty Rutledge were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 8, 1986 at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Father John Herzog, pastor of Sacred Heart Church, officiated, and burial was in Corpus Christi Cemetery, Fort Dodge. The Rosary was recited at the funeral home at 7 p.m., Sunday.
