December 9, 1921 ---- August 24, 2016

LASALLE, IL — David Ray White, 94, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, at the LaSalle Veterans Home. Born Dec. 9, 1921, in Clarion, Iowa, to Harry M. and Cecil M. (Garman) White, he married Geraldine I. Neff Jan. 31, 1941, in Clarion, Iowa.

During his younger years, he worked as a farmhand. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked for the Rock Island Railroad for 38 years. He was a member of the Moose and Elks. He also enjoyed to fishing, hunting, gardening and loved to travel. He loved to spend quality time with his family.

Surviving are three children, Terry (Kerry) Boehle of Princeton, Gary (Lois) White of Oak Forest and Sheila Shurlow of Walnut; seven grandchildren, Daniel Boehle, Erin Tomman, Michael White, Steve White, Brian Shurlow, Jerry Shurlow and Lori Catton; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bettie (Gene) Finks of Mountain Home, Ark.; two brothers, Frank (Lucille) White of Princeton and Clifford (Betty) White of Andover. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one brother, Harold. Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at the Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton with the Rev. Derek Boggs officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Bureau. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
