Bonnie Bean Eikmeier, 85, of Flandreau, [South Dakota] died Monday, August 22, 2016, at Riverview Health Community in Flandreau. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Flandreau United Methodist Church. Burial is in Union Cemetery in Flandreau. Visitation is 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau.
Bonnie was born Sept. 6, 1930 at Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Louis and Mable (Jensen) Lindsay. She received her education in Eagle Grove and graduated from high school in 1948. Bonnie was married on July 9, 1950 at Eagle Grove to James Bean. They lived in Des Moines, Iowa, Chicago, Poughkeepsie, Ark., Wheatland, Wyo., Belcourt, N.D., and moved to Flandreau in 1967. Jim died Sept. 24, 1983, and Bonnie married Lowell Eikmeier on July 14, 1990 in Flandreau. Bonnie was a member of the Flandreau United Methodist Church, order of Eastern Star, various Extension clubs in North Dakota and South Dakota, Sunday School Supper, UMW, mission projects, always did handiwork (stitching and knitting), loved traveling, cooking, canning and freezing and was an avid reader.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Lowell; four children, Doug (Margaret) Bean of Wasilla, Alaska, River (Sarah) Bean of Palmer, Alaska, William (Jeanie) Bean, Rockmart of Ga., and Rebecca (Norman) Bean-Mullan, Kodiak, Alaska; four step-children, Lola (Lyle) DeCock of Ghent, Minn., Becky Eikmeier of St. Peter, Minn., Barbara Eikmeier of Hadley, Minn., and Sally Eikmeier of Rapid City; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great- grandchildren, Ashton Richter, Trinity Bean, Johanna Bean, Daniel Bean, Trinton Hestor; two step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dixie (Harold), Janssen of Tenstrike, Minn., and Maryellen (Arnold) Hanson of Story City, Iowa. Bonnie was preceded in death by her first husband, James Bean and three grandchildren, Ryan Mullan, Alana Mullan and Douglas (P.J.) Bean.
