June 23, 1905 --- June 22, 1964

John Bramwell Thorn was born June 23, 1905, at Eagle Grove to Noah and Lottie Orr Thorn. He was baptized as a young child and on March 12, 1944 was confirmed in the Lutheran faith by Pastor T. J. Severtson. On July 3, 1939 he was united in marriage to Gladys Wilson at the Little Brown church at Nashua. He died early Monday morning July 22 at his home at the age of 58 years, 11 months and 29 days. Mr. Thorn lived in Eagle Grove
all of his life. He was a member of the local fire department for nearly 20 years and spent all of his adult years in the carpentry trade. He is survived by his wife Gladys, his father Noah, one brother Roy and a sister, Mrs. Emma Johnston all of Eagle Grove. Preceding him in death were his mother and a sister Ione, Mrs. Roy Lillibridge. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 24 at 2:30 at the Kastler Funeral Home with H. W. Schiller, pastor of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church in charge. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Sudden Death of John B. Thorn Monday Morning

John B. Thorn died unexpectedly at his home early Monday morning, following a sudden heart attack. He would have been 60 years old the next day. Mr. Thorn who was a carpenter here for many years is survived by his wife, his father Noah Thorn, one brother and sister Roy Thorn and Mrs. Emma Johnston all of Eagle Grove. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Kastler Funeral home in charge of Rev. H. W. Schiller, pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran church. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
