Funeral services for Harry Peyton were held from the United Methodist Church in Dows on Sunday, February 8 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Marshall Monthei officiating. Burial was in the Dows Fairview Cemetery. The Willim Funeral Home in Dows was in charge of arrangements. Harry died unexpectedly Tuesday, February 3rd at the Clarion Community Hospital. He was born June 11, 1897 in Blaine Township, Wright County, and was the son of William H. and Sarah Dudley Peyton. He was raised and educated in Wright County. He was united in marriage to Mabel Sarber April 5, 1916 in Clarion and after their marriage they farmed in Riceville and then farmed in Dougherty until moving to Dows in 1965. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Dows Senior Citizens. He is survived by two sons, Melvin of Dougherty, Merlin of Clear Lake and five daughters, Mrs. Vivian Willemssen of Mason City, Mrs. Francis (Doris) Rohrer of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Lois Hansen of Inglewood, California, Mrs. Evelyn Mabry of Des Moines and Mrs. James (Connie) Smith of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are 32 grandchildren and 62 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Mabel in 1978, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, one daughter and two grandsons.
