Funeral services for Olive Hilton were held from the First United Methodist Church in Clarion on Saturday, February 6, 1981 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Richard T. Hohl officiated at the last rites and burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. The Eyler-Willim Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Hilton died on Tuesday, February 3, 1981 at the Clarion Hospital. Casket bearers were Douglas and Paul Hatch, David and John, Jr. Jacobson, Roger Sumners and Dr. James G. Lott. Honorary bearers were Eugene Allen, Duane Sandage, Bernard Bunn, Eldred Shupe, Myron, Jr. Hill, Richard Simpson and William Ferguson. Mrs. Paul Loomis was the organist and Rev. Hohl the vocalist.
Born on November 20, 1888 at Forest City she was the daughter of Rome and Ida Farmer Perry and grew to womanhood in the area of her birth. She received her B.A. degree from the University of Iowa in 1909. After college she worked in the Winnebago County Court House at Forest City. She was married to J. K. Hilton on June 23, 1914 at Forest City and they lived at Lovilla, Denison and Sac City before moving to Clarion 61 years ago. Mr. Hilton was a well known engineer in this area. He died in 1960. Mrs. Hilton was an active member of her church and a life member of the United Methodist Women. She was a 50 year member of P.E.O and 60 year member of the Clarion Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Progress Club.
Two daughters survive: Sylvia H. Hatch of Spirit Lake and Dorothy H. Jacobson of Bloomington, Minn.. She is also survived by five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a sister Ethel Clifford of De Witt. Her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
