Funeral services for John R. Jacobson were held from the Presbyterian Church in Dows on Thursday, February 5th at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Terry Palmer officiating. Burial was in the Dows Fairview Cemetery and flag folding ceremonies were conducted by the Dows American Legion.

John died Monday, February 2, at the North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City after a short illness. He was born November 12, 1895 in Cedar Falls and was the son of Peter and Anna Anderson Jacobson. He moved to Dows with his parents at an early age and they farmed until his marriage to Carolina Horstman February 11, 1920 at Hampton. After marriage they farmed in Wright and Franklin Counties until moving to Dows in 1954. He was a member of the Dows Presbyterian Church and was a 62 year member of the Dows American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, one son Darwyne of Dows and one daughter Marcelene Braun of Clear Lake. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, two brothers, Harley of Dows and Carl of Coulter, two sisters, Mrs. Marie Dockwell of Coulter and Mrs. Dagmar Christensen of Hampton. Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister.
