Marvin H. Draper, age 84, of Alexander passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016 at the Sheffield Care Center. Memorial service for Marvin H. Draper will be at 1:30 P.M. Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond. Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Visitation for Marvin H. Draper will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond. The family desires memorials are made to Hospice of North Iowa or the American Legion in Marvin Draper’s name.

Marvin Harold Draper, son of Elizabeth (Hoover) and Harold Draper, was born on June 23, 1932 in Webster City, Iowa. Marvin grew up and farmed near Alexander. He graduated from Alexander high school in 1951. Marvin joined the Army 1952 and served in the Korean War. He was awarded the bronze service star. Marvin was a member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Methodist Church in Alexander.

Marvin spent several 100,000 miles on his motorcycle touring the United States, Sturgis and Daytona Beach being his favorites. He attended many motorcycle rallies. He was a member of North Iowa Road Riders and ABATE of Iowa. Marvin loved his family, friends, motorcycles, and his collie dogs, not necessarily in that order. Marvin also delivered ambulances for years for Emergency Vehicle Sales & Service.

Marvin is survived by his brother Gene (Judy) Draper of Clear Lake; nieces Annette (Sam) Hargadine of Iowa City, Tammy (Mike) Shimp of Hampton; nephews Mitch Peddicord of Kansas City, Ken (Jodi) Draper of Mason City, Mike (Julie) Draper of Mason City; thirteen great nieces and nephews; and six great-great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth and Harold Draper; sister Joan Brunsvold; and niece Jacki Anderson.
