Services Held
John N. Nelson, 85, of Newton, a former longtime resident of Monroe, died Wednesday, December 4, 1991, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Dr. Thomas Bass, pastor of the Monroe United Presbyterian Church, conducted services. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

Survivors are his wife, Dorothea; a son, Dawayne of Brighton, Michigan; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Etta and Betty. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Anna in 1979, a son, Lorrie, two daughters, Mary Darlene Nelson and Delores Bucher, three brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Nelson, a resident of Newton since 1985, was a 20-year employee of the Parsons Company in Newton. The son of Frederick and Elvina Neilsen, he was born April 12, 1906, in Goldfield. He was married to Anna Dop July 5, 1930, and after her death in 1979, to Dorothea McCafferee October 26, 1985 in Monroe.
