July 10, 1847 --- November 18, 1918

Anna Elizabeth Attig was born in Hessen Darmstadt, Germany, July 19, 1847 and passed away Nov 19, 1918 at Cherokee, Iowa, being at the time for her death 71 years and 4 months of age. In the year of 1860 she was united in marriage to Michael Rettig. To this union 8 children were born, four having died in infancy. In 1881 the family immigrated to America where, with the exception of one year, she lived in the state of Iowa. Her husband preceded her to the Great Beyond in the year of 1900.

She leaves to mourn, one son and three daughters, G. M. Rettig of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Mrs. George Klasse of Westbrook, Minnesota, Mrs. Rudy Piets of Windom, Minnesota and Mrs. Henry Boge of Renwick, Iowa besides one brother and twenty grandchildren.

Though a cloud spread it shadow over the latter years of her life we still have a blessed memory of her as having been a kind and loving mother and a dutiful wife. Having been baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, she was a faithful follower of her Lord with the blessed assurance that some day she should see Him face to face.

Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church last Friday afternoon, Rev. Schedtler preaching the sermon. Interment was made at Vernon cemetery.
