Henry Wagner, Jr. was born November 16, 1904, near Vincent, Iowa. He was married to Maxine Thompson in 1934 at Vincent. The couple farmed near Vincent and then in 1939 moved into Vincent where they operated a gas station. In 1943, he returned to farming, the couple built their home in Vincent and moved back into town in 1968. He continued farming until retiring in 1982. He was a longtime member of the South Enes Lutheran Church.
Henry Wagner, Jr., died Saturday, July 18, 1998 at the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 93. Survivors include 1 son, Roger Wagner, Badger; 3 daughters, Darlene Trausch, Eagle Grove; Bernice Thurmond, Eagle Grove; and Donna Vinsand, Pocahontas; 18 grandchildren; and 25 greatgrandchildren; 1 brother, Arthur Wagner, Seattle. Wash.; and 1 sister, Mathilda Dencklau, Vincent. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine; 2 sons, Ronald and Donald; 1 daughter, Shirley; one grandson, Ronald Keith; 5 brothers, Walter, Benjamin, William, Gladney, and Melvin; and 1 sister, Rose Halverson.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel, in Fort Dodge, with the Reverend Paul Stone, pastor of the South Enes Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was held in the Colfax Township Cemetery. Gunderson Funeral Home in Fort Dodge was in charge of the arrangements.
