Darlene Elna Harmon, 85, of Waveland, [Indiana] passed away Friday evening at Ben Hur Nursing Home. She was born on Jan. 8, 1931 in Dows, Iowa to the late Charley and Ila (Swank) Hofmann. On March 9, 1949 she married Lemyel Harmon. He preceded her in death, May 26, 2004. Darlene graduated from Marshall High School with the Class of 1948. She was the Parke County Fair Queen in 1948. She was a stay at home mother raising, her four children. She enjoyed the Covered Bridge Festival where she sold for 22 years. She also was a member of Extension Homemakers Club for 45 years.

She is survived by her children, Randy (Luanne) Harmon of Waveland, Darry (Ellen) Harmon of Linden, Larry (Debbie) Harmon of Russellville, Darla (Bill) Green of Crawfordsville; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two more on the way; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Norma Rae Chaplan and Harriett Elam.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2016 at Machledt & Servies Funeral Home, 301 E. Green St., Waveland, IN 47989 with Pastor Rodney Coffman officiating. Burial will follow at Indiana Creek Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the funeral home. Machledt & Servies Funeral Home has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
