Harriet R. (Hofmann) Elam, 79, Indianapolis, died Dec. 28. She had owned Elam's Paint Pot, Crawfordsville, before retiring. She was a member of Hedges Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Bloomingdale, and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was past president of the ladies auxiliaries of American Legion Post 1310, Forty and Eight and Fraternal Order of the Eagles Post 1005. Services: 1 p.m. Jan. 3 in Rice Funeral Home, Marshall, with calling from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 2. Burial: Poplar Grove Cemetery, Marshall. She was the widow of William Elam. Survivors: daughters Sharon Tolin, Wanda Tatum; sisters Darlene Harmon, Norma Chaplin: two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
