December 1856 --- August 23, 1927

Robert Coats, an old settler of this county, passed away Tuesday evening at the Ed. Cowles home. His age was about seventy years. Mr. Coats had been in failing health for the past year, yet the end came quite suddenly. Two sons survive him. The funeral was at the Christian Church Thursday afternoon. Rev. Milford of Gaylord conducted the services, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Cedar cemetery. Peace to his ashes. Rest his soul.
