October 3, 1856 ----- July 26, 1935

James Francis Feely, son of Samuel and Margaret Feely was born in White County, Ind.. Oct. 3, 1856, and died at his home in Eagle Grove Iowa, July 26, 1935, at the age of 78 years. 9 months and 23 days. He grew to young manhood in White county, where he also received his education. His father and mother both died when he was only 18 years of age. Being thus left alone, he decided to go to Kansas where he lived for some time, later going to Missouri acquainted with Nan Lee Horton, to whom he was later married on Dec. 24, 1889 at Neosho, Mo. To them were born one son and one daughter. The son died in infancy and the daughter, Bessie (Mrs. Wm. Rompf) died at the age of 27 in 1927. After a five years residence each in Missouri and Indiana, they came to Eagle Grove where they have since resided. Mr. Feely learned the carpenter's trade early in life and followed it for many years. Mr. Feely has been a hard worker during his entire active period which came to an end about four years ago when he suffered a stroke of apoplexy which left him in poor health. Last Tuesday evening he suffered a second stroke to which he succumbed Friday evening at 11:30. He is survived by his beloved wife and two grandchildren, Marjorie and Wilmer Rompf who have been very devoted to both their grandparents and who will greatly miss this departed dear one. He is also survived by six nephews and one niece and many neighbors and friends who will greatly miss his accustomed greeting.

The funeral was held from the Wilson Funeral chapel, Monday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. W. L. Breaw, pastor of the Methodist church. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
