November 15, 1848 ----- August 19, 1935

Elizabeth Maxwell Bradford, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Maxwell, was born in Waukegan, Ill., Nov. 15, 1848, and passed away Monday afternoon, August 19, 1935, at the home of her son Ray Bradford, on South Lucas avenue, where she had made her home for the last fifteen months, her age at time of her death being 86 years, 9 months and 4 days.

On June 10, 1866, she was united in marriage to Sidney Bradford of Elgin, Ill., at Kenosha, Wis. To the union were born nine children. Two infants and a daughter, Mrs. Nellie Bradford Quigley of Scranton. Iowa, and a son, Percy Bradford of Eagle Grove, preceded her in death. Besides giving loving care to her own children she brought up in her home her granddaughter, Mrs. Ethel Quigley Wood, now of Lansing, Mich.

After living for a time in Waukegan and Chicago, Omaha, Scranton, and Mason City, Iowa, she had lived at the time of her death for nearly 40 years in Eagle Grove.

Her husband, a Civil War veteran and well-known carpenter and builder, passed away in Eagle Grove, Oct 8, 1914.

Mrs. Bradford was a member of the Woodman Circle and was a charter member of the W. R. C. At the time of her death, she was one of the four remaining widows of Civil War veterans in Eagle Grove.

She was a religiously minded woman, a conscientious student of the Bible, her life being characterized by good works and neighborly kindness.

There remain, to mourn their loss, one daughter, Mrs. L. A. Bolan of Ferndale, Mich., four sons, John, of Mason City, Fred of Omaha, Ray of Eagle Grove and Lee of Mountain Home, Ark; 12 living grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Sarah Ingram of Spokane, Wash., and many nephews and nieces, besides a host of friends.

The funeral was held at the home of her son Ray, Wednesday afternoon at 2:00, Rev. Albert S. Kilbourn officiating. Burial was at Rose Hill cemetery, Eagle Grove.
