Ayodeji O. Coker, M.D., age 72, of Council Bluffs, passed away April 5, 2016, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

Dr. Coker was born September 23, 1943, in Omu Ijebu, Nigeria to the late Emanuel and Christianah (Anapolu) Coker. He married Clarine Sorbo on September 27, 1968. They were blessed with 6 children, Ayodeji, Jr., Christianah, Olusegun, Oluseyi, Olufolahan, and Ololade. Dr. Coker practiced medicine in the states for many years.

In addition to his parents, Dr. Coker was preceded in death by his son, Oluseyi in 2010; and 11 siblings. Dr. Coker is survived by his wife of 47 years, Clarine Coker, M.D.; children, Ayodeji Coker, Jr., Christianah (John) Coker-Jackson, Olusegun (Shawntelle) Coker, M.D., Olufolahan Coker, Ololade Coker; 6 grandchildren; sister, Olu Onasogun; nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family, Sunday, 3 to 5 p.m., at the Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service, Monday, 11 a.m., at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 22 Dillman Dr. Father Aaron Hudson will officiate. Interment Walnut Hill Cemetery with a lunch following at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. The family will direct memorials.
