Ray Place Shaftoe was born at Mahomet, Ill June 10th 1886 and died in Des Moines, Dec. 14, 1954, at the age of 68 years, 6 months and 4 days. He moved to Eagle Grove with his parents, Rev. and Mrs. Robert Shaftoe and spent his early life here. Later he moved to Chicago where he worked for the Union League Club until his health failed him. About a month ago he moved to Des Moines. He was united in marriage to Eleanor Trask in 1909.
He is survived by a son, Robert G. of Des Moines, his step mother, Mrs. Olive Shaftoe and two grand children, Robert LeRoy and Sherryl Ann Shaftoe of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Wilson-Sacquety Funeral home in Eagle Grove and interment was in Rose Hill cemetery. Rev. Dale Brown officiated.
