November 25, 1892 ---- June 16, 1925

Louis Raymond Federlin was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, Nov. 25, 1892. He continued to make his home here until 16 years of age, going first to Council Bluffs, where he secured his first job as checker on the C. & N. W. Ry. He stayed but a short time and went to Cheyenne, where he began work for the American Express Co., remaining with this company four years. At the age of 21 he returned to Eagle Grove and became an employee of the C. & N. W. During this time he made his home with his grandparents. On Dec. 3rd, 1916, he went to Des Moines where on August 3rd of the following year he enlisted as an aviator. He was sent to Spokane, Washington, then to San Antonio, Texas, and from there to Mitchell Field, Garden City, N. Y. He was put into the maintenance squad, where he acted as top sergeant for two years. He was honorably discharged in the latter part of October of 1919 and immediately returned to his mother, who was living in Des Moines. He again secured employment with the C. & N. W. Ry. and remained here for two years and then went to Ft. Worth, Texas, being employed as switchman. The following spring he came to Springfield, Mo., remaining there a year, in May, 1924, he went to Blue Island, Illl. and begun work as switchman in the Rock Island yards.

He had been in apparently good health till the moment of his death, which occurred suddenly at 8:20 June 16, 1925, at the age of 32 years, 6 months and 21 days.

Mr. Federlin was a single man and made his home with his mother Mrs. A. Federlin. He leaves to mourn their loss, his mother, two aunts, Mrs. Clint Miler of Eagle Grove and Hazel Hathaway of Los Angeles, two uncles, Prank Hathaway of Minneapolis and Leonard Hathaway of St. Cloud, Minn., and his grandmother, Mrs. Hannah Hathaway of Eagle Grove, and Mrs. Amber Hathaway Anderson, a cousin and her husband of Sioux City.

Funeral services were held in the funeral parlors of Foil & Wilson Sunday afternoon, conducted by W. G. Muhleman, pastor of the Methodist church and his body was interred in Rose Hill cemetery.

Those who attended the funeral from out of the city were: Miss Hazel Lindeman and Orma McCarty of Des Moines, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Art Anderson of Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hathaway of Minneapolis, Leonard Hathaway of St. Cloud, Minn., Hazel Hathaway of Los Angeles, Clint Miler of St. Louis, Mo.
