Spencer Richard "Dick" Hotz
October 7, 1915 ---- June 16, 1984

Dick Hotz, son of Roy and Mina Hotz was born October 7, 1915, in Loogootee, Indiana. He moved as a boy with his family to Eagle Grove, where he graduated from high school in 1934. In 1937 he married Thelma Lack of Webster City, and they had one daughter, Linda. He was in the grocery business in Nevada, Iowa, until he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in the south Pacific in World War II. After his discharge, he and his family made their home in Eagle Grove where he was in the grocery business for many years. In 1963 he moved to Reno, Nevada and married LaVonne Bosch; he continued in the grocery business there until his retirement in 1982. He died Saturday, June 16, 1984 in the Reno Veteran's Hospital after a lengthy illness; he was 68 years old. He is survived by his daughter and grandson, Linda and Chris Peterson of Eagle Grove, wife LaVonne and her 3 children, Vicky, Judy and Jim, and grandson, Chris, all of Reno, Nevada, and his sister, Alice Wright, Eagle Grove, and brother Bob of Herscher, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Mina Hotz. His body was cremated and interred in the Veterans' Cemetery in Reno, Nevada.
