Helen Marie Stufflebean was born on February 21, 1923, the daughter of Claude and Grace Freeborn Stufflebean at St. Joseph, Missouri. She received her education in the Fort Dodge School System. She was united in marriage to Oliver Egesdal, Jr., on July 8, 1945, at Eagle Grove. She was employed by Wilson's Packing Company and later Cal's Super Valu, both in Eagle Grove. The couple divorced in 1967. Mr. Egesdal died on July 5, 1993. She entered the Rotary Ann Retirement Home in 1991.

Helen Marie Stufflebean died at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion on November 27, 1995. She had attained the age of 72 years, 9 months, and 6 days.

Survivors include her sons, Oliver James Egesdal and Richard Allan Egesdal and his wife Renee', both of Ottumwa; 5 grandchildren; and two sisters, Donna Goodrich and her husband James of Wellman, and Catherine Egesdal of Eagle Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and a son, Theodore Egesdal.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 30, 1995, at the Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. The Reverend Lyle Peters officiated the 2 p.m. services. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home, Ltd. of Eagle Grove was in charge of the arrangements.
