May Kristine Thorup, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Thorup, was born in Visby Schleswig Holstein on Feb. 8, 1969 and departed this life on Dec. 6 at the age of 96 years, 9 months, 22 days. At the age of 18, she came to Eagle Grove and made her home here until her marriage. On Feb 8, 1893, she was united in marriage to Hans C. Hanson of Eagle Grove. Mr. Hanson departed this life on April 28, 1915. For the past 30 years, Mrs. Hanson made her home with her son Walter and daughter Bessie. She is survived by 7 children: Walter of Eagle Grove; Ruth (Mrs. Charles Bentley) of Waterloo, Bessie of Eagle Grove; Roy of Belmond; Fred of Goldfield; Esther (Mrs. Willard Boxwell) of Anamosa and Edwin of Berkeley, Calif. Also by 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 3 great, great-grandchildren. At the time of her death, she was a member of The First Christian Church of Ft. Dodge. Mrs. Hanson fell at her home two months ago and suffered a broken hip. She has been hospitalized since that time. Funeral services were held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Kastler Funeral Home in charge of Rev. Thos. Polk, pastor of the First Christian Church in Ft. Dodge. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Ft. Dodge.
