Howard Garfield Egemo was born on September 18, 1913, the son of Weir and Celia Ness Egemo at Randall, Iowa. He received his education in the Randall School System. He was united in marriage to Esther Berhow in 1932. The couple farmed in Minnesota and Osceola, Iowa. She died in 1954. Mr. Egemo was then united in marriage to Edna Rosendahl on June 4, 1955. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove following their marriage. He was employed with Boone Valley Co-op, worked as a carpenter for Al Jacobson and Art Manuel, the Co-op Lumber Yard for 14 years until his retirement in 1976.

Howard Garfield Egemo died in Eagle Grove, Iowa on Sunday, Jan., 16, 1994. He had attained the age of 80 years; three months, and 28 days. Surviving are his wife Edna of Eagle Grove; step-son Gary Rosendahl of Eagle Grove, and daughter, Sharon (Mrs. Jerry) Bacon of Humboldt, Iowa; five brothers: Vemer of Mora, Minn.; Lawrence of Eagle Grove, William of Fort Dodge, Arnold of Waterloo, and Harlan of Fort Dodge; five sisters: Bea Burk of Eagle Grove, Grace (Mrs. Leroy) Thompson of Hardy, Katherine (Mrs. Lurman) DeWinter of Humboldt, Marjorie (Mrs. Herman) Vorland of Hardy, and Arlene (Mrs. Arthur) Spangler of Eagle Grove. Also surviving are five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Esther Berhow Egemo, and an infant son.

He was a member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Funeral services for Howard Garfield Egemo were held on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 1994 at the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove, Iowa. The Reverend Thomas Evans officiated the 1:30 p.m. services and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Kastler-Babcock Services were in charge of arrangements.
