Celia Bertina Ness, the daughter of George and Bertha Knutson Ness, was born May 24, 1891 in Story County, Iowa. She attended school in Story County. On February 10, 1910 she was married to Weir H. Egemo of Story City at Story City. They farmed until 1933 when they moved to Eagle Grove. Mr. Egemo died in 1969. Celia had been a resident at the Belmond Nursing Home since 1973. She died Tuesday, December 27, 1977, at the Belmond Nursing Home at the age of 86 years, seven months and one day.

Survivors include six sons - Howard, Verner, and Lawrence Egemo, Eagle Grove; Harlan Egemo, Fort Dodge; Arnold Egemo, Grundy Center; William Egemo, Fort Dodge; five daughters - Beatrice (Mrs. Thurman) Burk, Eagle Grove; Marjorie (Mrs. Herman) Vorland, Hardy; Arlene (Mrs. Arthur) Spangler, Eagle Grove; Grace (Mrs. LeRoy) Thompson, Hardy; Catherine (Mrs. Lurman) DeWinter, Thor; one brother - Sanford Ness, Story City; three sisters - Mrs. Irene Kilborne, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Clara Hetland, Mesa, Calif.; Mrs. Blanche Hetland, Story City; 38 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Ruth West, and four brothers - Gaylord, Gerhard, Andrew and Homer. She was a member of the Samuel Lutheran Church.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 30 at 1:30 p.m. at the Samuel Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove. Rev. Orville Sanderson officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
