Richard (Pete) C. Germer, Jr. was born in Boone, Iowa on March 24, 1958, to Richard and Shirley Sudderberg Germer. H6 attended school at Boone and Lake City. Hegraduated from Rockwell City High School in 1976. He started working for Jim's Super Valu Grocery Store in Rockwell City, and then the store in Eagle Grove. From there he worked for the Easters Super Valu in Creston, and a Super Valu Grocery Store in Des Moines. In the spring of 1988 he started his own grocery store called Pete's Clover Farm Grocery Store in Whittemore. He operated this store for 6 years and then went to Sac City to work for Joyce's Food Land as a meat cutter.
Richard (Pele) C. Germer, Jr. died on Monday, October 30, 1995, at Sac City, Iowa. He was 37 years old. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Germer, Buena Vista, Colorado; 3 sons, Richard (Rick) and Christopher Germer, Sac City, and Cameron Smith, Lake City; 2 sisters, Penney and Mark Plumb of St. Charles, Illinois, Peggy and Dan Degner of Humboldt; grandmother, Dorothy Germer, Boone; 11 aunts and 4 uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, paternal grandfather, Elmer Germer, and maternal grandparents, Lewis and Laura Sudderberg.
Funeral services were held on Friday, November 3,1995, at 2 p.m. at the First United. Methodist Church in Boone, Iowa, with the Reverend Rose Blank officiating. Burial was held in Linwood Park Cemetery, also in Boone. Schroeder Funeral Home of Boone, Iowa was in charge of arrangements.
