Monice Violet Yarnell, the daughter of Will and Alice Earp Fleming, was born on April 13, 1903 at Roswell, N.M. She grew up in Roswell and received her education there. She attended the New Mexico State Teachers College in Silver City and taught school in New Mexico for several years. She also attended Eastern New Mexico State University at Portales, N.M.
On May 28, 1925, she was united in marriage with Glenn Yarnell at Eagle Grove. The couple lived in Iowa for a few years, then moved to New Mexico, where they lived for many years. After living in New Mexico they moved to Mississippi for one year and have lived in Goldfield for the past 18 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the D.O.C. Club in Goldfield.
She died on Saturday morning, Oct. 1, 1983, after suffering a heart attack. She attained the age of 80 years, five months, and 18 days.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn of Goldfield, her daughter, Jeannette, Mrs. Richard Lowe, Jr. of Bloomfield, Conn., seven grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Blair of Waco, Tex.; a brother, Mart Fleming of Carlsbad, N.M. and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Bob Yarnell; a brother, Jack and three sisters, Dixie, Minnie Dee, and Willa Dean.
Funeral services for Mrs. Glenn (Monice) Yarnell, age 80 of Goldfield, were held on Tuesday, Oct. 3,1983 at the United Methodist Church in Goldfield. Rev. Kenneth Peterson, church pastor officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home on Monday.
