Funeral services for George Newcomb, 71, a member of the Eagle Grove police department 11 years, were conducted in the Lutheran church at Kanawha by the Rev. Perry Sampson at 1 p. m..Wednesday. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery here. Mr. Newcomb farmed near Corwith for 15 years after leaving the Eagle Grove police department. He died on his farm there Monday morning, apparently a suicide. He had been in poor health three years and had four heart attacks this spring.

Survivors include four brothers, E. C., Frank, Homer and Jess Newcomb of Eagle Grove; two sisters Mrs. Joe Wernet of Eagle Grove and Mrs. H. D. Lillibridge of Alden, Minn., and an adopted son Clarence Peterson of Corwith. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Charles Allen and Mrs. Sam Allen, and by two wives, the former Jennie Rain [sic. Rayne] of Fort Dodge, who died in 1924, and the former Mrs. Erna Peterson, who died in 1948.
