JoAnn Butt, age 79 of Woodbury formerly of Belmond, Iowa, passed away April 25, 2016 at United Hospital in St. Paul. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676-80th Street S., Cottage Grove, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Galesville, WI at a later time. Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association of Minnesota.
JoAnn (Walton) Butt was born February 4, 1937 in Emmetsburg, Iowa to Lester and Amanda (Struve) Walton. She attended the deaf school in Council Bluffs, Iowa and graduated from the Minnesota School for the Deaf in Faribault, Minnesota in 1955. JoAnn was married to Robert Butt in Winona, Minnesota in 1956, and they lived in several locations including Kansas, Mankato, MN and Belmond, IA. JoAnn enjoyed being the family historian, sewing, taking care of pets and various crafts. She also enjoyed puzzles of all kinds including word searches and jigsaw puzzles. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, whose love extended to her sisters and their families. In 2000, she and Robert rekindled their relationship and have been dating since.
JoAnn is survived by her ex-husband and best friend, Robert; sons, Randal (Pam), Scott (Tammy), Wayne (Angi) and Kevin (Michelle); grandchildren, Kristin, Brandon, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Jeremy, Jessica, Logan and Brendon; great-grandchildren Madison and Megan; sisters Janet "Sweed" (Jerry) Mainquist, Joyce Ball; sister-in-law Chong Walton and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jerry Walton; brother-in-law Charles Ball.
