Mrs. Mary Voss, 76, died Friday morning at Park Manor Care Center after a long illness. Services will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday in the Rose Room of Bruce Funeral Home [Fort Dodge, Iowa] and at 9 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The Rev. Richard Kielbasa, pastor, will officiate at the mass of the resurrection. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery at Renwick. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon on Sunday, with a Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish rosary at 8 p.m. Sunday. Surviving are a son, Dorn Machovec, Fort Dodge; three grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Henry (Rose) Midles and Mrs. Horace (Elsie) Irwin, both of Bolivar, MO, and Mrs. Lewis (Sophia) Kukal, Phoenix, Arizona.
Mary Opatrny was born in Bolivar and attended schools there. She came to Fort Dodge at the age of 17 and worked in homes here. In 1925 she married John Machovec in Fort Dodge and they farmed south of Fort Dodge in Elkhorn Township. They then moved to a farm west of Fort Dodge and into Fort Dodge in 1931. In 1940 she married Paul Voss and they lived on a farm south of Renwick. Mr. Voss died in 1944. Mrs. Voss remained on the farm for a time and then moved into Fort Dodge in 1966. She did housework before retiring in 1972. She had had several strokes and lived with her son before entering Park Manor. Mrs. Voss was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Z. C. B. J. Lodge.
