Man dies after Park City traffic accident
Vehicle went off S.R. 224 close to golf courseA Salt Lake City man died on Sunday after a traffic accident on S.R. 224 as it passes the Park City Golf Club, the Utah Highway Patrol said. A spokesman for the Utah Highway Patrol said a 2012 Toyota Camry with two men inside was traveling southbound on S.R. 224 at 12:17 p.m. when it went off the road. The vehicle went through a fence and ended up in a ditch. The Utah Highway Patrol said the two men were taken to the University of Utah Hospital in ambulances. The driver, identified as Kurt Peterson, died at the hospital, according to the spokesman for the Utah Highway Patrol. Peterson was 46 years old. Information about the injuries sustained by the other person in the vehicle was not immediately available.
The accident prompted a large emergency response on the stretch of S.R. 224 outside the golf course. The Park City Police Department, the Utah Highway Patrol and the Park City Fire District were at the scene with emergency vehicles lining the side of the road. The investigation is continuing. There were vehicle parts and pieces of wooden fence strewn through the scene. It was clear from the damage what section of the fence the vehicle drove through. The Camry at one point afterward was in the creek with its hood up as an investigator looked inside. Traffic was slow on S.R. 224 as drivers passed the scene.
