Cornelius Kithcart was born in Knox county, Ohio March 12th, 1846 and died at Eagle Grove, Iowa, April 26th, 1916. He was married to Louiza Greenlee July 7th, 1872, to which union five children were born, Nora, who died in 1888; John of Gillette, Wyoming; Jesse of Nokomis, Illinois; Mrs. Nellie Wickwire of this city and Homer of Belle Plaine.
In 1856 he moved with his family to Iowa, and in l882 he moved his family from Belle Plaine to this city and has been an employee of the C. & N. W. R. R. Co., since that time until the 16th of November, 1915 at which time his health began to fail.
Everything possible was done to relieve his suffering, which was accomplished; but corrosion of the stomach and liver had set in and physician's skill could not restore his health.
He has two brothers of Wilsonville, Nebraska and one sister of Alexander, North Dakota, who survive him, but who were unable to attend the funeral. Those from out of town were Mrs. Ella Wright, a niece, Mrs. J. G. Bucker, Mark Greenlee, wife and son Homer, Clyde, and Owen Rucker all of Gladstone, Mrs. Mary Jones and Jas. Smith of Fort Dodge.
Funeral services were held last Friday at 2 p. m. at the home and were conducted by Rev. G. L. Hart. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
