April 5, 1873 ---- October 30, 1888

We are called upon to chronicle the lamentable death of Miss Nora Kithcart, age 15 years and 6 months, which occurred Tuesday, Oct. 30, 1888. Her body was laid to rest in Rose Hill Cemetery on the same date.

Just budding into womanhood as she was, and being active, strong, vigorous, cheerful and most affable in her disposition, she was both interesting and attractive. Only a very few days ago she was bright as a full blown rose and was full of plans and hopes for the future. But alast a fatal disease laid hold upon her and in so short a time all earthly hopes were blighted, and she faded and died. How familiar her face has been in the social circle, in the church and the Sunday school, in all of which she was greatly interested; but that face will be seen no more among us. She has gone to "The undiscovered country from whose bourn No traveler returns."

No one dreamed that the death messenger was hovering so near. How true the words of Bishop Heller: "Death rides on every passing breeze, He lurks in every flower".

Death came as he comes to many in an unlooked for hour. Her death was a heavy blow to her family and it cast a dark pall-like sadness over the entire community. Notwithstanding the suddenness of her call, death had no terrors for her at the last. A few hours before death she said, “ I am ready.” “And if I am spared I will lead a better life.”

“Leaves have their time to fall, and flowers to wither at the north-wind’s breath. And stars to set; -- but all, thou hast all seasons for thine own, O Death!”
