Ethel Cordelia Johnson was born December 9, 1906, the daughter of Halver and Lena Bertina Tuttle Hill, near Holmes, Iowa. She attended school at Eagle Grove. She was united in marriage to Andrew Johnson of Eagle Grove on April 16, 1929. The couple lived in Eagle Grove where Mr. Johnson was employed by the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad as a Switchman. They moved to Hawarden, Iowa in 1940, and Mrs. Johnson returned to Eagle Grove four years ago to make her home. Mr. Johnson had passed away prior to this time. Mrs. Johnson died unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, December 18, at the age of 68 years, and nine days. She is survived by five sisters: Mrs. Lottie Williams, Ft. Dodge; Clara, Mrs. Walter Thorn, Eagle Grove; Mable, Mrs. Fred Sadler, Council Bluffs; Mrs. Emma Johnson and Mrs. Edith Cox, Eagle Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, two brothers, Harry and Elmen Hill. Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 21, at 10:30 a.m. in the Kastler-Babcock-De Young Funeral Home. Pastor H. W. Schiller officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
