From Mrs. Ted Coltvet of Holmes we have received word of the death of her sister-in-law and former Eagle Grove resident, Mrs. Elling Weeks, 83, of Los Angeles, Calif. She was the former Ada Haukole, a graduate of Eagle Grove High School. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Haukole, and her father was one of the pioneer engineers for the Chicago and North Western R.R. here. Their family home was on North Cadweli Ave. on the site of the Earl Hansen home. Later the Haukoles lived where the Tom Sadler family now resides. Mrs. Weeks is survived by one daughter, Peggy Jane Sommerset and family of Los Angeles. Elling Weeks was one of the pioneer airplane flyers. He came here about 1910 and constructed his own airplane and flew it. He built many airplanes, and was also in the automobile business here with his brother Anfin, and later Alfred Larson. The Weeks family moved from here to Milwaukee, Wis. where he was in business, and later they moved to Los Angeles.
