September 16, 1939 --- March 16, 2016

William "Bill" C. Widestrom, 76, of Eagle Grove, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife Karen Widestrom of Eagle Grove, IA; devoted daughters Lori (Chris) Smith and grandchildren Alec, Emily, and Abbey of Naples Florida; Paula (Tom) Volk and grandchildren Collin, Madison, and Will of Andover, MN, and Katie (Craig) Landgraf of Crystal, MN; sisters, Lorna Hammen of Woodbury, MN, Eileen (Dwane) Junkman of Manson, IA and Jo Anne Widestrom of Windsor Heights, IA and many additional family members. Bill was preceded in death by parents, Lawrence and Alma (Wendt) Widestrom and sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Robert Miller; sister and brother-in-law, Marie E. and Norman Acker; brother-in-law, Donald Hammen; sister, Bernadine Widestrom and sister, Audrey Widestrom.

Bill was born on September 16, 1939 in Manson, IA. Bill graduated from Manson High School and obtained an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Industrial Electronics Technology from Iowa Central Community College in 1978. He was employed at the AGP Energy Center and retired from the AGP Energy Center after 19 years of service.

Bill loved his family, his lake house in Okoboji, fishing, boating, spending time with his grandchildren and his "granddogs". He enjoyed traveling and visited 49 of 50 states during his lifetime. For many years he "wintered" in the sunshine of Florida or Texas after retirement. He enjoyed watching movies, reading westerns, a good game of cribbage, losing his money at casinos, and making quick witted comments. He recently celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary with his wife Karen on February 19, 2016.

A memorial service for friends and family will be held this summer in Okoboji, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Paula J. Baber Hospice House, 2630 9th Ave. S., Fort Dodge, IA, 50501. Please direct additional inquiries regarding memorials to the Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, IA. He will be missed every day.
