Funeral services for Lawrence M. McDermott, 81, Humboldt, were held Monday, July 13, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Humboldt, with burial in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Livermore. He died Friday, July 10, at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge. The Mason - Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt was in charge of the arrangements, with Msgr. Louis Kollasch officiating. Casketbearers were Wayne Lehman, Aaron McDermott, Jimmy Johnson, Robert Aukland, Mike Markman, and Allan Becker.

Survivors include his wife, Lenora; one daughter, Patricia Cahill of Dakota City; a son, Michael McDermott of LuVerne; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred Bradley of Armstrong.

Lawrence Michael MeDermott, son of James and Elizabeth (Newgirg) MeDermott, was born Jan. 26, 1911, at Eagle Grove. He was reared and educated in the Eagle Grove area, graduated from the Sacred Heart School. He was employed for several years by the railroad as a machinist. In 1936, he was united in marriage to Lenora Biegger at Livermore. The couple farmed in Humboldt County for many years. He was also employed by the A.S.C.S. and the Conservation Service in Humboldt County. In 1975 he retired and moved to Humboldt. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic church.
