Robert James Brock was born in Woolstock, Iowa, on June 12, 1914, to parents Charlie and Annie (Sharkey) Brock. Bob and Evelyn Smolley were united in marriage on February 11, 1940, at the Clarkfield Norwegian Church. To this union three children were born: Anita Jane, Roger James, and Charles Alvin. Bob passed away at the Clarkfield [Minnesota] Care Center on Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at the age of 89 years.
