Allen Arthur Payne, a long-time resident of Seattle, Washington, formerly of Belmond, Iowa and brother of Loren and (Marianne) Payne, of Belmond passed away, March 5, 2016 at his home in Seattle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 18, 2016 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 732 18th Avenue East, Seattle, WA. Father John Whitney will officiate. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Seattle. Memorials or expressions of sympathy may be directed to Allen’s family % 1323 Schmalle Circle, Belmond, IA 50421, to the parish or to the donor’s choice. Funeral services are under the direction of the Harvey Funeral Home, Seattle, WA.

Allen Arthur Payne was born June 16, 1943, in Belmond, IA, the son of James W. and Anna Margaret (Cleveland) Payne. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond. He attended country school Pleasant No. 8 in Pleasant Township, Wright County, Iowa, through the fourth grade, then went to Belmond Community School graduating from high school May 24, 1961. In his school years Allen was active in 4-H and FFA. After graduating he worked for his father before starting farming with his father and brother.

On April 4, 1964, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Beavers at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Belmond , IA. The couple lived and farmed in rural Thornton, IA, for four years before moving east of Belmond in 1968. They later divorced. Allen continued to farm before relocating to Seattle, WA, in 1991. He owned and operated a music store in Seattle before eventually retiring. Funeral services are under the direction of the Harvey Funeral Home, Seattle, WA.
