Miss Louisa Decker was born in Gainesville, NY May 27, 1857. She lived there till her marriage to Monroe Newcomb on June 1, 1874. They moved to Wright county, Iowa during the following year. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Newcomb, all of whom are living. There were four daughters and five sons as follows: Mrs. Ollie Allen of Blue Earth, Minn.; Mrs. Metie Allen of Bossburg, Wash.; Mrs. Ida Wernet of Eagle Grove, Iowa; Geo. of Stilson, Iowa; Jess of Eagle Grove, Iowa; Mrs. Grace Lillibridge of Alden, Minn.; Ed, Homer and Frank of Eagle Grove, Iowa.

Mr. Newcomb died April 15, 1905. Mrs. Newcomb lived on the farm all of her life till about two months ago when her desire of many years was gratified and she moved to town and started to keep house on South Park avenue. She passed away very suddenly on the evening of April 27, 1923, having reached the age of 65 years and 11 months. She leaves to mourn their loss the nine children, thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church on Sunday afternoon and the sermon was preached by Rev. W. G. Muhleman. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery.
