September 23, 1874 ---- December 22, 1948

Rose Ann Woodard, daughter of Manuel and Isabell (Spurlin) Wallin was born in Troy Township west of Woolstock on September 23rd, 1874 and passed away Wednesday at 3:30 pm., December 22, 1948, at her home on South Commercial Ave at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 29 days. She grew to womanhood in that community and attended the public schools near her home. She was married in the home of her parents on October 12, 1892 to John H. Woodard, also of Troy community. For many years, Mr. and Mrs. Woodard owned and operated a farm in Troy Twp., finally moving to their present home on South Commercial Ave. in 1906.

They are the parents of three children: Herman, Grace and Thelma. Mrs. Woodard became a member of the Methodist church at Woolstock in her early girlhood days, later of the Eagle Grove Methodist church. She also was a member of the local Eastern Star Chapter and enjoyed this affiliation as long as her health permitted her to attend.Mr. and Mrs. Woodard celebrated their golden wedding of 50 years on October 12th, 1942 by having open house for their friends and relatives and again in 1947 were able to observe their 55th anniversary.

Mrs. Woodard was of a quiet and unassuming disposition and her greatest interest was in her home, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Wallin, one sister, Mrs. Ida Boughton, three brothers, George, Norris and Frank Wallin and two grandchildren, one going in infancy and the other, John Woodard, whose life was sacrificed in the late world conflict in Europe.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, John H. Woodard, her three children: Herman Woodard of Albert Lea, Minn., Mrs. Grace Helmick of Clarion, Mrs. Thelma Matheson of Oceanslde, Calif., five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, also one sister, Mrs. Robert Hirt of Woolstock, one brother, Earle Wallin of Council Bluffs, Ia., and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday December 24th. at 2 p.m. at the Kastler Funeral home, in charge of Rev. Harrison G. Dawes, pastor of the Methodist church, with interment in Rosehill cemetery.

The music, a solo "The Lord's Prayer" by Richard Johnson, accompanied by Patricia Boughton. Pallbearers were: Robert Woodard of Albert Lea, Minn., Merlin and Verl Wallin of Glennville, Minn., George Helmick and Albert Alverson of Clarion, and Millard Hirt of Woolstock.
