Cecil Suddeth Goranson was born November 4, 1914, at Missouri Valley and was the adopted son of William and Maude Belle Grover Goranson. He attended school in Mullen, Neb., and served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945, with duty in Europe. He was also the recipient of the Silver Star. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Dingman of Eagle Grove on August 19, 1971, at the Park Church of Christ parsonage in Goldfield. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove after their marriage, where he was employed at the Boone Valley Cooperative Processing Association. He retired from his work in 1979. He was a member of the Park Church of Christ in Goldfield.

Cecil Goranson died September 12, 1988, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion of an apparent heart attack at the age of 73 years, 10 months, and eight days. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn. Funeral services for Cecil Goranson were held September 15 at 1:30 p.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. The Rev. Tony Brandt officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. The Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
