Marson Sylvester Anderson, the son of Merrill and Nellie Waage Anderson, was born on June 16,1907, at Chickasha, Oklahoma. As a small child, he moved with his parents to Illinois, then to Wisconsin, where Marson attended the Clear Lake Wisc. schools, and then he moved to Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota Agriculture College for two years. He moved to Belmond, Iowa in 1929. Later he was employed by the State of Iowa, Department of Agriculture as a milk tester. On January 13,1934, he was united in marriage with Caroline B. Tegland at the farm home of her parents near Clarion. The couple farmed near Rowan, Iowa for a year and then moved to Clarion and later to Mason City. In 1937, the family moved to Eagle Grove, where he was a carpenter until retiring in 1965.

He was a long-time member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. Mr. Anderson had been ill for the past several weeks and had been a patient in the hospital and nursing home. He died on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 2, 1982 at the Clarion Care Center in Clarion, Iowa, at the age of 75 years, four months and 16 days.

Surviving are his wife, Caroline Anderson of Eagle Grove; his daughters, Betty Lou, Mrs. Charles Christians of New Brighton, Mn.; and Mrs. Beverly Haugse of Hastings, Nebr.; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren; a brother, Delbert Anderson of Clarion; three sisters, Hazel, Mrs. Merle Weld of Clarion; Elsie, Mrs. Vernon Weld of Lebanon, Oregon; Bernice, Mrs. Stanley Sampson of Goldfield and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Marson S. Anderson, were held on Friday, Nov. 5 at 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Paul Schaedig, church pastor officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove. Visitation was held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home on Thursday.
