Gary passed away Wednesday morning, Feb. 24, 2016, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

Gerald "Gary" K. Lemon was born Jan. 26, 1935, in Webster City, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Helen (Rasmussen) Lemon. He attended school in Webster City and graduated from Webster City High School. As a young boy, Gary began his working career delivering papers on a paper route for the Freeman Journal in Webster City. By the time was a senior in high school, Gary had worked his way up to pressman and was printing the paper.

On Jan. 22, 1956, Gary was united in marriage to Janice Kramer in Clarion, Iowa. Together, the couple made their home in Webster City, Iowa, for six years prior to moving to Fairmont in 1962. To this union four children were born: Michael, Brenda, Pamela and Mark.

Gary worked his entire career in the printing business. When the family moved to Fairmont, he worked for the Fairmont Sentinel as a pressman and continued working for them when they moved the press to the House of Print in Madelia. In 1976, he opened his own printing company, Central Graphics in Blue Earth. In 2012, Gary retired due to health issues but greatly missed being there on a day-to-day basis.

Gary loved the outdoors and cherished any opportunity to go hunting, fishing, and shooting trap. He treasured time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and often could be found cheering them on in their favorite sport. Growing up, Gary was a member of the Boy Scouts and was one badge away from earning his Eagle Scout award. As his kids grew up, he enjoyed helping as a leader and looked forward to the Pinewood Derby and helping many boys throughout the years create their cars from a block of wood. That love of creating something from a block of wood spilled over into his everyday life as Gary was a wonderful woodworker.

Gary was a kind and gentle person who loved to see people be happy. His zest for life and easy going personality will be greatly missed by those that loved him and called him a friend.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Janice Lemon; children, Michael Lemon, Brenda (Randy) Fretty, Pamela Wedner, and Mark (Jamie) Lemon; grandchildren, Matt Fretty, Ashley (Riley) Anderson, Alycia (Brandon) Johns, Nick Wedner, Gabby (Andrew) Karau, Jacob Lemon, and Brooke Lemon; great-grandchildren, Gunner Johns, Lily Anderson, and Emma Fretty; step-great-grandchildren, Joey Flohrs and Lucas Flohrs; brother, Ron (Nancy) Lemon; sister, Sharon Bahr; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Jim) Pruisman and Julie Hanson; brothers-in-law, Larry (Joan) Kramer, George (Mary) Kramer, Mervin (Pat) Kramer; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Helen Lemon; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Alice Kramer; three brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and a granddaughter.
