December 29, 1883 ---- January 30, 1957

Mrs. Clara Stille, age 73, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 30, at the Belmond Community Hospital, following a brief illness. Mrs. Stille was! born in Liberty Township, on December 29, 1883, the daughter of the late Wilhelm and Marie Gast, and grew up on the farm known as the Gast Homestead. On November 15, 1899, she was united in marriage to Mr. J. J. Stille. For a few years they farmed as renters, but later purchased their own farm in Liberty Township, where they lived and worked for thirty-three years.

Mr. Stille passed away on September 27, 1940. Three years later, Mrs. Stille moved to Klemme, where she resided until her death. She leaves to mourn her passing, three daughters: Gertrude,. Mrs. Elmer Schaefer of Garner; Fern, Mrs. Arthur Carlson of Clear Lake; and Lucille, Mrs. Cecil Bridges of Thornton. Four sons: Quentin of Klemme; Kermit of Thornton; George of Goodell; and Virgil of Garner. Nineteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Also two brother,: George Gast of Beltrami, Minnesota; and Herman Gast of Klemme. One sister: Mrs. Martha Janssen of Iowa Falls. She was preceded in death by her husband John, two brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Stille was a life-long member of the Methodist Church, having been trained in early childhood in the ways of Christ. She was a devout member of the Women's Society of Christian Service, and in 1954, she had the honor of being named a Life Member of the Society, and of receiving a Life Membership Pin. She was never absent from a church service if it was possible for her to attend. She found great comfort in her Bible and in communion with her Lord.
