Rose E. Carter, 92, a 50-year resident of St. Charles, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 1997, at the Pineview Care Center in St. Charles. She was born Nov. 17, 1904, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the daughter of Sumner A. and Grace E. (Arthur) Middleton. She was a nurse at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago where she met her husband, Royal Dore Carter. After moving to St. Charles, she was employed by the Howell Company for many years. Ruth considered it a great accomplishment to have been in nursery care at her church for 30 years. She was a charter member of the Fox Valley Bible Church in St. Charles. As long as she could maintain her home, Ruth enjoyed her beautiful flowers and yard.
Mrs. Carter is survived by a son, Royal Dore (Jan) Carter Jr. of Pine City, Minn.; four grandsons, Ross Allen (Jeniece) Carter, Royal Dore (Gail) Carter III, Burton (Patty) Schaeffer and Mark Douglas; two granddaughters, Michele (Mike) Smetama and Marla (Duane) Parks; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy May Middleton of Batavia and Marylee Ham of Blaine, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Royal Dore Carter; two sisters, Ethel L. Bozer and Frances E. Wall; and two brothers, Harlon J. Middleton and Harold B. Middleton.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 1997, at the Fox Valley Bible Church in St. Charles, with Pastors Robert Whitney and Howard Stein officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in St. Charles.Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1997, at the Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third St., St. Charles; (630) 584-2000.
