James W. Doty, 92, of Rice Lake and formerly of the town of Cedar Lake, died on Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Rice Lake. He was born on May 5, 1906, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, son of Levi and Lottie (Arnett) Doty. He moved with his parents when he was 1 year old to Birchwood, where he grew up and attended Angus Elementary School and Birchwood Union Free High School, from which he graduated in 1925. He married the former Marian Coolidge in Yarnell on June 20, 1930. After his marriage he took over his father's farm and went into dairy farming. He farmed until retirement in 1976 and moved to Mikana in 1990.The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Jarocki Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Rice Lake. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Birchwood.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, at the Jarocki Funeral Home and Cremation Service and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
