Lola Kastler Madsen, beloved wife of Brigham D. Madsen passed away February 18, 2001. Lola was born July 2, 1916 to Lula May and William H. and William H. Cahill, and was later adopted by her stepfather Charles G. Johnson. Lola Johnson spent her childhood in Magna and Sandy, Utah. Graduate of Jordan High School, class of 1935. She attended Stevens-Henager Business School and worked for Utah Power & Light and the International Brotherhood of Electrical workers. Lola married Gordon R. Kastler in 1949. Gordon preceded her in death August 19, 1996.

Lola met Brigham in 1997 and married him December 1, 2001. Lola was a natural musician and could play virtually anything by ear. She played piano for an array of service organizations, including USO groups during World War II, and the children at Shriners Children's Hospital. In later years she took great joy in playing for her contemporaries at the Friendly Neighborhood Centers and at St. Joseph Villa. Lola was a friendly caring person, liked by all that came in contact with her.

Her husband Brigham, her niece Judith K. Swenson and several cousins survive her. A remembrance gathering will be held at the St. Joseph Villa Senior Apts. lobby, at 451 Bishop Federal Lane, where friends may call on Wednesday, February 21, 2001 from 6-8 p.m., refreshments will be served.St. Joseph Villa honors those residents that have passed away during the past month at a Mass held the 3rd. Tuesday of each month. Lola will be remembered at a Mass at the St. Joseph Villa Chapel, March 20, 2001 at 11:30 a.m. A graveside service will be held in Eagle Grove, Iowa, where her ashes will be interred next to Gordon. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Shriners Children's Hospital. Funeral directors Evans & Early Mortuary.
