Thelma H. Spangler, 91, of Eagle Grove, Iowa, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove. Thelma Hull was born July 7, 1909, in Angus, Iowa. The family later moved to Clarion, Iowa, and she was a 1928 graduate of Clarion High School in Clarion. She married C. Emery Spangler Feb. 10, 1932, in Eagle Grove. They moved to Eagle Grove and later moved in 1936 to a farm south of Eagle Grove. They retired from farming in 1951 and moved back into Eagle Grove. Her spouse died Jan. 3, 1979.

She was active with Meals on Wheels and transported people. She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove and was active in the church circle.

Survivors include: two sons, Jerry (and wife, Shirley) Spangler of Glendale, Ariz. and Dennis (and wife, Marvelyn) Spangler of Fremont; a sister, Charlotte Long of Belmond, Iowa; three grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, four great-grandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother.

The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Susan Stone officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at William Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.
